Riyadh: Prince Abdulaziz bin Talal bin Abdulaziz, Chairman of the Arab Gulf Programme for Development (AGFUND) and honorary president of the Saudi Society of Family and Community Medicine, sponsored the society’s celebration of World Family Doctor Day in Riyadh on Monday.
The event brought together key figures from both the public and private health sectors.
During the ceremony, Prince Abdulaziz launched several initiatives, including the official website of DaleelFM.com , a national platform designed to advance family medicine practices in the Kingdom.
Developed with contributions from over 3,000 family physicians, the guide serves as a vital reference tool for healthcare professionals across Saudi Arabia.
In his speech, Prince Abdulaziz highlighted the essential role family doctors play in community health and in supporting Saudi Arabia’s health transformation goals under Vision 2030.
He noted that the DaleelFM.com app further strengthens the society’s mission by offering a scientifically grounded and data-driven resource.
Dr. Malak Al-Shammari, Chairperson of the Saudi Society of Family and Community Medicine, reiterated the society’s dedication to enhancing family medicine through innovative projects and partnerships that elevate the quality of healthcare services.
The event also featured the Family Medicine Excellence Awards, recognizing outstanding contributions in the field, and included a scientific symposium titled "Celebrating World Family Doctor Day," reinforcing the importance of primary healthcare in achieving national health objectives.
AGFUND reaffirmed its long-standing partnership with the society, having supported multiple sustainable health initiatives, including the DaleelFM.com platform.
The initiative aligns with AGFUND’s broader goals of promoting preventive care and expanding access to quality healthcare through strategic and innovative collaborations.
